Domestic Violence Narrations - part 1
(This a true - life story. Names have been changed to protect the people's identities)
Mary is 45 years old.Her husband is a prominent man in the society. He has a violent temper and repeatedly beats her – slapping, shoving, punching and kicking. Sometimes in front of the children, house - help and driver, and most times to their hearing. He tells her he knows she can't live without him and that if she dares leave him, he will take the children away from her. he calls her names, comparing her with other women and insisting she has nothing to offer anyone - is lazy and ungrateful for all he has done for her, the children and the home.
While Mary was coming for counselling, she said he had contacted a venereal disease and passed it on to her. She said he tried to be nice to her during the time she was going for the treatment and she forgave him. Mary complained that her children were always reluctant to come home from school and in addition her son was angry with her, sometimes even rude - asking her why she didnt defend herself and why she allowed herself to be treated this way. She felt he had even begun to side with his father.
Mary moved out of the house 3 times and each tiem she will move back in again. She is still with her husband who is still regularly giving her the beating of her life
Welcome to wivesroundtable blog!
Hello ladies! Here we are, on blogspot.com! *wide grin*
This blog has been birth due to the need to reach the needs of our women as best we can. We know a lot of women have stories to tell, questions to ask or suggestions needed. They may not want to do this on our facebook page due to the nature of that platform - having their names and pictures showing.
Other people do not say, very honestly, what they think about different issues for the same reason.
So we have created this blog, to enable all women feel free to say what they want, ask questions they need answers to and share their stories - without fear of exposure.
Same thing we seek to achieve with our online forum www.wivesroundtable.net. If you wish, you can go on there, sign up and join the conversations over there.
If, however, you need us to publish your stories and questions for you, all you need to do is send them to wivesroundtable@gmail.com and we will publish them here for you.
Creating a close knit community of Nigerian women who help each other through the journey of life is our objective and we'll do EVERYTHING in our power to achieve this objective - God willing!
Thank you and God bless!
